- Competition: Ligue 1, Playoffs, 2nd Leg
- Date: Thursday, 29th May, 2025
- Kickoff: 19:30 UK / 20:30 CEST
- Venue: Stade Auguste-Delaune (Reims)
After a 1:1 in the first leg, Reims will welcome Metz in the second leg of the Ligue 1 Relegation Playout at Stade Auguste-Delaune in Reims.
Reims have been a mid-table team in Ligue 1 in the previous six seasons since their promotion in the 2018/19 season. This year, The Red and Whites weren't on an expected level as they ended up in the Relegation Playout, just three points away from direct relegation. Pretty much the only bright spot of the season was in the Cup, where they reached the Finals but eventually lost 3:0 to PSG just a few days ago. However, we have to mention they had a really easy route to that finals. Now, after a draw in the first leg and losing the Cup Finals, Reims are the bookies' favorites in this duel, offering odds around 1.6 for them to secure survival.
Metz constantly moved between Ligue 1 and 2 in the previous decade. Last year, they were relegated and are trying to secure an instant return this season. Unfortunately, direct promotion was four points away, and had to go through the playoffs. They are slight underdogs before the second leg, but they have a reason to be optimistic, considering they were the best Ligue 2 road team this season.
Reims vs Metz pick: Under 2.5 goals
Reims are having massive problems offensively this season, scoring only 33 goals in 34 Ligue 1 rounds. As the season progressed, they only looked worse and have scored only two goals in the last six matches - 0.33 per game. Primarily due to a poor offense, they went under 2.5 goals in seven of the previous nine games - 78%.
Mez haven't been great for this bet throughout the season, but that changed dramatically when the stakes increased. In the Playoffs Semi-Finals against Dunkerque, they won 1:0, and then in the first leg against Reims, they drew 1:1.
As we mentioned, we saw a 1:1 draw in the first leg. It was a close match without too many chances for either side and in the end, these teams combined for only 1.4 xG.
Considering all the above and with the title on the line, we believe that an under 2.5 goals is the safest bet for the upcoming game.
